Schedule Your Mammogram Today

Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step in taking care of yourself by pledging to have a mammogram – now it’s time to schedule.

Emory Healthcare offers six locations for mammograms in metro Atlanta. When you call for an appointment, please have your insurance information and the name of your primary care or OB/GYN physician available.

Annual screening mammograms are covered by insurance but in most cases, there must be a full year between mammograms. If you’ve had a mammogram in the last twelve months, please be sure to choose an appointment time at least a year and a day after your last mammogram.

Mammograms Can Help Save Lives

Routine cancer screenings and getting expert treatment in the early stages are the most reliable strategies to prevent deaths from breast cancer. Breast cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, but many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. Regular mammography screenings, or mammograms, can detect breast cancer up to two years before you feel it.

This is why an annual breast cancer screening is so important. The benefit of screenings and imaging is finding cancer early, when it’s small and has not spread, which makes it easier to treat.

Emory Breast Imaging Center

Emory’s Breast Imaging Center recommends annual mammograms for all women beginning at age 40. Operated by Emory Healthcare, the center provides screening mammograms including 3D technology. Additionally, all women should have a risk assessment by age 30 to see if they are at an increased risk for breast cancer—particularly Black and Jewish women and those with a strong family history. For some women, screening before age 40 might be beneficial.
