Transform Your Life at Emory Healthcare Veterans Program

The Emory Healthcare Veterans Program treats conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), military sexual trauma (MST), substance use disorder, anxiety, and depression. Treatment is confidential and provided at no cost to eligible post-9/11 veterans and service members living anywhere in the United States regardless of discharge status, deployment history, or length of service. Our two-week, evidence-based program is offered in person at our clinic in Atlanta, Georgia or via telehealth in participating states.

You don't have to live your life struggling with haunting memories, sleepless nights, panic attacks, or similar symptoms – challenges that can ruin your life and destroy your most valued relationships. Whatever you're going through, you are not alone. In fact, an estimated one in three post-9/11 veterans and service members are affected by invisible wounds.

If you or someone you love is affected by the invisible wounds, we are here to help. As a veteran or service member, you deserve to have access to care and services that can help you heal mentally and physically. We're committed to doing our part to meet this need and to provide the best possible care and support when you turn to us. We'll treat you and your family with respect, dignity, and compassion.

Evidence-Based Treatment Proven to Heal Invisible Wounds

The Emory Healthcare Veterans Program treats conditions such as PTSD, TBI, MST, substance use disorder, anxiety, and depression.  World-renowned Emory clinical psychologists Barbara Rothbaum, Ph.D. and Sheila A.M. Rauch, Ph.D. lead our highly skilled team of professionals.

Dr. Rothbaum, Executive Director of the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program, has worked in the PTSD field since 1986 and pioneered virtual reality exposure therapy to help veterans and service members face their worst memories and move on with their lives.

Dr. Rauch has provided PTSD and anxiety disorders treatment, training and conducted research for more than 25 years. In addition to her role as Deputy Director of the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program, she leads PTSD treatment outcomes and mechanisms trials at Emory and within the Department of Veterans Affairs. She serves as the Lead for the Prolonged Exposure in Primary Care Training Program and a trainer for the Prolonged Exposure Therapy Roll Out in the Veterans Health Administration.

Our team consists of specialists in several fields, including psychiatry, neurology, neuropsychology, and social work. We're experienced in working with veterans and service members, and many of us have served as well. Our program, which is part of the Warrior Care Network®, recognizes the stress of military service and the challenges of returning to civilian life.

Together, we'll chart a course designed specifically to help you find your way to peace of mind and your best life.

Care In Person or Via Telehealth

Program participants may choose to complete the Accelerated Brain Health Program at our clinic in Atlanta, Georgia, or via telehealth if they are in a telehealth-eligible state.

Thanks to our generous partners’ funding, we offer care at no cost to eligible post-9/11 veterans and service members. For those participating in our two-week Intensive Outpatient Program, travel, lodging, and meals are also provided at no cost to them.
