Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Operating Officer

Vice Chair, Emory Healthcare Board of Directors

Christopher L. Augostini serves as Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Operating Officer for Emory University and Emory Healthcare. He is also Vice Chair of the Emory Healthcare Board of Directors. In his role, he is responsible for ensuring an environment across the Emory enterprise that fosters excellence in people, facilities, infrastructure, and financial performance.

Reporting directly to the President of Emory University, Augostini collaborates closely with university and health care leadership, including the provost, academic deans, the Emory University Board of Trustees, the Emory Healthcare Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. He leads enterprise-wide initiatives that support Emory’s long-term sustainability and mission, providing strategic and leadership oversight for capital planning, real estate, investment management, finance, debt strategy, enterprise risk management, internal audit, and compliance integration. Augostini also oversees the university’s information technology and cybersecurity strategies and human resources department.

As Vice Chair of the Emory Healthcare Board of Directors, Augostini provides governance oversight in partnership with Board Chair John Rice and Joon Lee, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and CEO of Emory Healthcare.

Prior to joining Emory, Augostini served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he led efforts to strengthen financial performance. There, he also launched the first multi-year plan to address financial, operating, and capital challenges that addressed health care system losses and their impact on the enterprise. His early career included fiscal and policy roles for New York City and the State of New York, such as serving as Deputy Budget Director and Chief of Staff to the First Deputy Mayor in New York City.

Augostini serves on the Board of Directors for W. R. Berkley Corporation. He holds a master’s in public policy analysis from the State University of New York at Albany.
