Chief Administrative & Chief Operating Officer, Emory Healthcare

As the Chief Administrative and Operating Officer, Oscar Marroquin, MD has a broad scope of responsibility for ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of care, optimizing efficiency and maximizing operational alignment across Emory Healthcare and the Woodruff Health Sciences.

Marroquin joins Emory Healthcare from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where he most recently served as executive vice president. He is nationally recognized for advancing clinical integration, data-driven operations and provider performance. During a two-decade career, Marroquin’s leadership and contributions at UPMC include serving as president of the UPMC Physician Services Division, overseeing more than 5,000 employed physicians and all academic clinical faculty of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Previously, he served as the chief health care data and analytics officer, during which time he created a best-in-class unified clinical data warehouse. As an academic interventional cardiologist and clinical researcher, he advanced the understanding of real-world results of new therapies, including a first author paper in New England Journal of Medicine.

Marroquin received his medical degree from Universidad Francisco Marroquin School of Medicine in Guatemala and completed residency training at Presbyterian Medical Center of University of Pennsylvania. He then completed cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
