Chief Human Resources Officer,

Rock Anderson, Jr. serves as Chief Human Resources Officer for Emory Healthcare. He leads the organization’s talent strategy, employment engagement and development, and overall HR operations in support of one of Georgia’s largest health care systems. 

Anderson brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across the automotive and health care industries, with a track record of guiding large, complex organizations through transformation, growth, and operational improvement. Prior to joining Emory Healthcare, he was Chief Human Resources Officer for AutoNation, the largest automotive retailer in the United States.  

Before AutoNation, Anderson spent over a decade at Cox Automotive, where he served as Global Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to that, he held operational and HR leadership roles at Manheim, America’s leading provider of automotive remarketing services, including Regional Operations Vice President for the western U.S. 

Anderson also has held senior roles with organizations including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Siemens, Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo), and INROADS, Inc. He is affiliated with several academic, professional, and philanthropic organizations and has been recognized nationally for his contributions to corporate leadership. In 2022, Anderson was selected as one of the 2022 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America. He is a Leadership Atlanta alumnus, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., and a member of One Hundred Black Men of Atlanta/America.  

Anderson serves on the Board of Directors at Carter’s Inc. He also holds leadership positions with numerous nonprofit and community organizations, including the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, St. Anthony Catholic Church, Dillard University, Tulane University School of Social Work, and St. Augustine High School. 

Originally from New Orleans, Anderson is a graduate of Dillard University and Tulane University.
