Stroke Center
Recovery and Follow Up
Whether visiting us for pre-stroke risk factors or for long-term rehabilitation after a stroke, we provide complete continued care to protect patients' health. Risk assessment and follow-up via the Emory Stroke Center Outpatient Clinic is a critical part of the treatment process. Patients must be monitored to evaluate their risk for further strokes as well as to check for other physical complications that could have resulted from the stroke trauma.
Continuing and Long-Term Care
Long-term care for stroke patients is an ongoing process following a stroke that may last months, years, or for the rest of a patient's life. There are many significant issues that the patient and family may have to adjust to, including providing an around-the-clock caregiver for a severely impaired patient and coping with anxiety about the risks of a reoccurrence.
Monitoring
The Emory Stroke Center can continue to monitor stroke patients following recovery and rehabilitation to minimize the risk of reoccurrence. Our diagnostic and therapeutic resources are among the finest in the nation.
Social Services
We can offer continued support services to help patients and their families cope with a range of issues, from fear and depression to coping with a new life. Our Social Services support staff also can recommend caregiver resources or, if necessary, long-term stroke care facilities.
Education
Lifestyle changes can make a considerable impact on lowering the risk of stroke. The Emory Stroke Center offers educational information and resources to help patients in the short term and for the rest of their lives.
