Vaccine Information for
Transplant Patients

Emory Healthcare’s top priorities are the well-being and safety of our patients. Our goal is to provide the best guidance for our patients and their families. 

The Emory Transplant Center recommends: 

All transplant candidates and recipients, care partners, and eligible household contacts receive and stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). COVID-19 vaccines may be required by some transplant programs. Additional information about COVID-19 vaccines and dosing schedules is available on the CDC website.

• All transplant candidates and recipients receive and stay up to date with all additional vaccinations as recommended by the CDC. Vaccine information may be found on the CDC website.
• We encourage you to ask your provider any questions you may have about vaccines, including COVID-19, and your vaccination status. 

For ease of access, we recommend going to your local retail pharmacy for COVID-19 vaccines. Continue to stay safe. You and your health and safety are very important to us. 

We recommend that all non-essential travel within and outside of the United States is postponed for the foreseeable future. Cruises should be canceled indefinitely. 

The American Society of Transplantation (AST) has compiled a list of extra precautions and frequently asked questions specifically for transplant patients, please take a few moments to review the information which will be updated regularly.

• If you are concerned that you have been exposed to COVID-19 and you are a post-transplant patient, please call your care team directly at 855-366-7989.
