Referrals to the Lung Screening and
Nodule Clinic at Emory Healthcare

Emory Healthcare Lung Screening and Nodule Clinic offers CT lung screenings at convenient locations throughout metro Atlanta. The screening identifies lung nodules that may be early signs of lung cancer, detecting it at its earliest and most treatable stage.

If the results show areas of concern, a nurse navigator will call your patient to schedule a follow-up appointment at the clinic. We’ll keep you informed about your patients’ screening results and treatment course.

Depending on the screening results, your patient may meet with an interventional pulmonologist or a thoracic surgeon for further testing or treatment.

Our multidisciplinary team works closely with specialists at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Georgia’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Lung Cancer Program at Winship is an international leader in lung cancer treatment and research.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends annual screening for lung cancer with CT lung screening. Eligible patients must meet all the criteria:

• 50 to 80 years old
• Current smoker or previous smoker (quit date must be within the last 15 years)
• 20 pack-years (average of at least one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years)
• No health problems that limit life expectancy or the ability to have cancer surgery if recommended
• Asymptomatic of lung cancer
• No lung infection within the past 12 weeks
• No personal diagnosis of or treatment for cancer within the past five years
• No chest CT within the last 12 months

CT lung screenings are available at several Emory imaging sites across metro Atlanta, bringing convenience closer to your neighborhood.
