We provide consultation appointments for patients who are currently on chronic opioid therapy. Such consultation appointments include:
- A complete comprehensive evaluation of each patient’s history and progress
- Assessing the current drug module which the patient is receiving
- Discussing alternative treatment modalities which are customized according to individual patients needs
At the Emory Pain Center, we are happy to work in conjunction with the patient’s primary care physician but cannot take over the principal prescribing task. Due to the large volume of requests for such consultations, we are unable to take over the prescribing of opioids for these patients but we do provide specific recommendations for individual patients and their physicians. There are other forms of medication management, besides opioids that we provide consultation for to treat and manage chronic pain.
