Emory Long-Term Acute Care Volunteer Programs

Our diverse volunteer programs welcome individuals of various ages and enhance patient care at Emory Long-Term Acute Care. Volunteers engage with various hospital departments in a non-clinical role.

Volunteer Programs

Summer VolunTeen Program (June & July)

  • Ages 16-18 (by June 1)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0+
  • Applications Open: Monday, February 17, 2025
  • Deadline: Friday, March 7, 2025, or after the first 40 applications are received, whichever occurs first. Space is limited.
  • Volunteering Period: June 2 - July 25, 2025 (1-week break June 30 - July 4)
  • Commitment: one four-hour shift per week (same day), Monday – Thursday. (There are no Friday or weekend opportunities for VolunTeens.)
  • Along with in-person volunteering, the program includes Lunch & Learn sessions on health care careers offered by a variety of clinical and non-clinical health care professionals.

College Volunteer Program

  • Ages 18+
  • Students enrolled in/planning for higher education (preferably post-freshman year, health care-focused)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0+
  • Onboarding: June/July
  • Volunteering Period: September – April
  • Commitment: one four-hour shift per week (same day), minimum of 80 hours.
  • College Volunteers in good standing who complete their 80-hour program are invited to continue during the summer and return the following year.

Labor Support Volunteer Program

  • Emory Decatur Hospital Location Only
  • Onboarding: June/July
  • Volunteering Period: September – April
  • Commitment: Two shifts per month (one 10-hour, one six-hour), minimum of 80 hours.
  • Focus: Non-clinical support for laboring parents and Labor & Delivery personnel, providing valuable experiential learning opportunities for nursing and other interested students.
  • Labor Support Volunteers in good standing who complete their 80-hour program are invited to continue during the summer and return the following year. 

Adult Volunteer Program

  • Ages 22+ (This is not an opportunity for students.)
  • Commitment: One year, with one four-hour shift per week (same day), minimum of 100 hours annually
