Pharmacotherapy Clinic

Helping You Feel Confident About Your Medications

Managing medications for complex, chronic conditions can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone.

At Emory’s Pharmacotherapy Clinic, our specially trained pharmacists work closely with your doctors to make sure your medications are safe, effective and right for you. We’re here to answer your questions, help you feel better, and support your long-term health.

Our Pharmacotherapy Clinic is the only clinic of its kind in the greater Atlanta area.

What is Emory’s Pharmacotherapy Clinic?

The Pharmacotherapy Clinic is on the Emory Clifton Campus. Your doctor or a pharmacist must refer you for a consultation.

A pharmacotherapy consult can help if you take medicine for one or more complex medical conditions.

There are many benefits to consulting with the specialists at the clinic, including:

  • Decrease medication side effects
  • Enhance patient education
  • Improve adherence to medication and treatment plan
  • Lower the risk of toxic reactions or drug interactions
  • Prevent or treat medication-related problems
  • Reduce the need for hospital readmission
  • Shorten treatment durations

Your Pharmacotherapy Team

Emory’s skilled team manages complex medical cases and highly specialized needs. Our clinical pharmacists have advanced training and expertise. Many have certifications by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties.

Our team also includes clinical pharmacologists. These are doctors who specialize in the science of drugs.

The Pharmacotherapy Clinic staff coordinates your care with your medical team for integrated service.

What to Expect

Your doctor can refer you to the Pharmacotherapy Clinic. You’ll receive a message in a visit summary in MyChart.

Your appointment will be in the clinic on the Emory Clifton campus or virtually via telehealth.

A Pharmacotherapy Clinic visit incurs a hospital-based clinic fee. Some insurance companies process this fee with a deductible and co-insurance (instead of a copay for an office visit). Check with your insurance company before your consultation.

Our Pharmacotherapy Clinic care team can provide financial assistance resources if necessary.
