Patient Preparation

Thank you for choosing Emory University Hospital Midtown for your health care needs. In advance of your arrival, we would like to share some information that will prepare you for your visit and help make your stay with us more comfortable and convenient.

Preparing for a stay

Pre-Registration & Insurance Pre-Approval – Help us expedite your registration by pre-registering for your visit at 404-686-1573.

Advance Directives – When you are admitted to Emory University Hospital Midtown, you will be asked if you have an advance directive. These documents, also known as living wills or durable powers of attorney, communicate your wishes for treatment if you become unable to speak for yourself.

Blood Donations – If you are having elective surgery, your physician may recommend that you donate your own blood at the hospital prior to admission. Family and friends may donate blood for your use via the American Red Cross or another donor center.

Your Safety

Our staff is committed to making the hospital a safe and healing environment. We ask that you and your visitors observe the hospital’s heath and safety guidelines.

Fire Safety – We conduct regular fire drills for our staff members. If you hear a fire alarm, remain calm and stay in your room. The staff will care for your needs during this time.

Security – Uniformed security officers are on hand to protect and serve you around the clock. If at any time you feel concerned about your personal safety, please report your concern to your nurse or any hospital staff member.

While You Are Here

Our goal is to provide you with excellent service and appetizing meals. Upon admission, you will be provided with a room service menu from which you may make meal and snack selections that are appropriate for your prescribed diet. We will do our best to honor any cultural, religious or ethnic food preferences. Please inform your dining services associate of any allergies you may have. Family members are welcome to assist by calling in meal orders on behalf of the patient if necessary.

How to Order

  1. Make your meal selections from the printed menu
  2. Dial 6-FOOD (6-3663) to place your order
  3. Orders will be delivered within 45 minutes of your call

Meal Service Hours

  • Breakfast is served 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Orders must be placed by 10:15 a.m.
  • Lunch and dinner are served from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Additionally, Savory Fare is located on the lobby level of the Medical Office Tower and features a variety of foods, including freshly prepared salads and sandwiches, pizza, hot entrees and homemade soups.

Lunch & Dinner 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Weekends


Breakfast 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Peachtree Perk Hours:

Located next to Savory Fare on the lobby level of the Medical Office Tower, Peachtree Perk offers Starbucks coffee and other beverages in addition to pastries and assorted snacks.

Flower & Mail Delivery
– Flowers and mail can be delivered directly to your room. For mail, ask your friends and relatives to address mail your mail like this:

Telephones
– Each patient has a bedside telephone. The last three digits of your telephone number are the same as your room number. Local calls are free. Please note: If you choose not to be listed in our directory, we will not be able to confirm that you are a patient of the hospital.

Internet – We offer free wireless Internet access for hospital guests. To connect to the Internet:

  • Open your Web browser. You should see the EMORY HEALTHCARE Guest Access welcome page. Click on “Terms of Use.”
  • Read the terms and conditions and click the “I agree” button to continue. Provide your e-mail address at the prompt on the next screen and click the “Login” button. Note: your e-mail address will not be shared.
  • You will see the emoryhealthcare.org home page. You now have wireless Internet access.

Preparing to Leave

We will work with you and your family to make sure you understand the medications and health care services that you may require after leaving the hospital. Discharge time is 10:00 a.m. Please arrange to be picked up next to Valet Parking.

Feedback
– You may receive a survey asking you about your stay and how we can improve our services. Please let us know how we did.

Understanding Your Bill – As a courtesy, we will file your insurance claims for you. However, final resolution of the claim is your responsibility. For questions regarding your hospital charges, please call 404-686-2422.

Patient Privacy – Emory is committed to protecting the privacy of your medical information. You have received our “Notice of Privacy Practices,” which includes detailed information on your legal rights and our obligations regarding the disclosure of your health records.

Discharge Planning and Post-Hospital Care

As you prepare for your discharge from the hospital, a social worker or case manager, along with your healthcare team will meet with you to discuss your clinical care needs when you leave the hospital and what your discharge options may be. Below you will find links to Frequently Asked Questions for various levels of care and services that may be options for you when you are discharged from the hospital.

When you have questions regarding your discharge plan, ask to speak with a social worker or case manager who will assist in coordinating your discharge plan while you are in the hospital.

Pharmacy

The Pharmacy at Emory Midtown is located inside of the Gift Shop on the lobby level of the Peachtree Building, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gift Shop

The Emory University Hospital Midtown gift shop, located in the Peachtree lobby (near the Linden Avenue entrance to the hospital), offers a wide selection of items, including nightgowns, robes, slippers, candy, flowers, writing materials and gifts for all occasions.

The shop is open on Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Profits from our gift shop help patients by providing funds for medical equipment and services.
