Emory Connected Care is our telehealth service. It is an easy, convenient and secure way to speak to your health care team.
Telemedicine allows you to connect with your care team in a secure video chat. You can ask questions, share concerns, and, in some cases, get a diagnosis and treatment plan – without leaving your home.

Yes. You must be in the state of Georgia during your appointment. There may be an exception if:
- Your doctor has a license to practice in the state where you are.
- Your situation fits within a state licensing exception.
If you won’t be in Georgia during your appointment, please contact your doctor as soon as possible.
How should I prepare for my Emory Connected Care appointment?
You can prepare for your appointment the same way you would for an in-person visit.
- Be ready at the scheduled time.
- Bring your care partner if you want them with you.
- Dress as if this is an in-person visit. For example:
- Wear a loose, short sleeve shirt for a dermatology appointment for your arms, chest or back
- Wear shorts for an orthopaedic appointment for your legs
- Have medical equipment available before your appointment begins. This may include a scale, blood pressure cuff and glucometer.
- Identify yourself by entering your full name when you join the appointment.
- Keep important information with you:
- Address and phone number of your preferred pharmacy and primary care doctor
- Insurance card or credit card
- List of medications with dosages
- List of pre-existing conditions, symptoms and questions
- Make sure you charge your device or plug it in. Place it on a stable surface so the doctor can clearly see you.
- Sit in a private, quiet location with good lighting. Minimize distractions from other people, pets, TV and music.
- Take notes and ask about follow-up.
During your appointment, do not:
- Dress inappropriately, such as in your underwear only
- Drive
- Eat
- Sit with your camera facing the window
Doctors may end online appointments at any time. They may feel that you aren’t prepared or in a private location. In these cases, you will have to pay a no-show fee.
What equipment do I need?
To participate in an Emory Connected Care appointment, you will need a:
- Private, quiet space for your session
- Smartphone or internet-connected device with a camera
- Strong internet connection
Your doctor may ask you to measure your vital signs. If available, have devices such as a blood pressure cuff, scale or glucometer. If you don’t have these, discuss this with your doctor before your appointment.
What should I expect for my Emory Connected Care appointment?
You can expect the same type of conversation with your doctor as you would at an office visit. Your doctor will talk with you about your current health status, concerns and needs.
They will join the telehealth appointment from their home or office. They will share contact information in case of technical issues.
If there are technical issues, your doctor may request that you reschedule your appointment as an in-person visit.
You can expect that your telehealth session will last as long as a typical in-person appointment.
My doctor has not arrived for my appointment. What do I do?
If your doctor does not arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, do not leave the session. Please call the Telehealth Support Team at 404-778-0645.
How does billing work for my telehealth appointment?
Emory Healthcare will bill your insurance in the same way as an in-person visit. If you do not typically use insurance, tell your scheduler. They will connect you to a financial counselor to discuss self-pay rates.
Can I get prescriptions or lab orders through telehealth?
