Jonathan H. Kim, MD, has launched the only cardiology practice in Atlanta to focus on sports. He works with the Emory Sports Medicine Center team of experts. The program diagnoses and treats disease, and works to prevent future cardiovascular problems.
As a respected researcher, Dr. Kim has done significant research on exercise and cardiology. He has published work on the effects of exercise on the heart's structure and function. In 2012, he published work in the New England Journal of Medicine evaluating sudden cardiac arrests in long-distance runners. His current project focuses on assessing blood pressure changes in football players.
His work with the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Hawks has made him the cardiology specialist the pros trust. He also works with college athletes from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory and is the medical director for the annual Peachtree Road Race™ in Atlanta.
