Sharing Radiology Images with Emory Healthcare

Patients, family members, and other healthcare facilities can share the results of radiology studies (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds)that they completed outside of Emory. Using a tool called Powershare, located within MyChart, Emory Healthcare teams will be able to view your images after you have uploaded them.

Note: Patients can still bring CDs/DVDs with them to appointments.

How to Share Imaging Studies with MyChart/Powershare

For patients:

  1. Login to your MyChart account.
  2. Open “Menu” in the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Under “Resources,” select “PowerShare.”
  4. Under “Upload To,” select which account the images will be uploaded to.
    • Emory Healthcare for general imaging exams
    • Heart & Vascular for cardiology exams
  5. Insert CD into the disc drive.
  6. Click the blue “Choose Folder” button.
  7. Select “DVD/CD drive” in the folder window.
  8. Click “Upload” (you do not need to select any files listed on the disc).
  9. Select “Upload” from the pop-up window.
  10. Select exam(s) to be uploaded.
  11. Click the blue “Upload” button in the top-right corner of the screen.
  12. You may close the PowerShare browser once the upload is complete.

For institutions sharing images with Emory Healthcare:

  • If your institution is a PowerShare user, use your current account to share the studies.
    • Select the Emory Healthcare account in PowerShare if sharing with the main account.
    • Select the Emory Heart and Vascular account if sharing with Cardiology.
    • Select the Radiation Oncology account if sharing with Radiation Oncology.
  • If your institution is not a PowerShare user, follow the instructions below.  Use the Emory Healthcare PowerShare for general imaging exams or Emory H&V PowerShare for Heart & Vascular images.
    1. Enter email address or phone number to receive an authentication code.
    2. Enter the authentication code.
    3. Check the box indicating "I have read and accept the Terms and Conditions and HIPAA Agreement."
    4. Click " Confirm Authentication Code." 
    5. Insert CD into the disc drive.
    6. Click the blue "Choose Folder" button.
    7. Select "DVD/CD drive" in the folder window.
    8. Click Upload (you do not need to select any files listed on the disc).
    9. Select "Upload" from the pop-up window.
    10. Select exam(s) to be uploaded.
    11. Click the blue "Upload" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
    12. You may close the PowerShare browser once the upload is complete.
