Transparency Program

Measuring Our Patients’ Experiences

As a patient, you have many options when choosing a health care provider. You want to find members of your care team who can meet your needs and make you feel comfortable. Emory Healthcare’s team is committed to transparency and helping you evaluate and compare your care options.

Around 60% of patients read online reviews about health care providers. As part of our transparency efforts, we ask for first-hand feedback from actual patients. They share their thoughts about a provider’s communication style and their approach to care. We publish this feedback and use it to improve the care you receive and recognize the people who make an important impact on your experience. These reviews can help you choose the provider that’s right for you.

Our Online Ratings and Comments

After you've had an experience at Emory Healthcare, you may receive a survey asking about your recent experience.  We'll email the survey to you within 24 to 48 hours of your visit. Your responses help us identify areas where we excel and opportunities for us to improve. This is an opportunity for you to tell us about your appointment and interaction with your provider.

In the survey, we will ask you about key aspects of your care, including:

  • Communication with your doctor
  • Coordination of your health care needs
  • Explanations of any medications

Our physician profile pages include comments on patient experience from patients like you. Survey responses from our inpatients and outpatients also contribute to our health care environment ratings.

Comments We Post

We know you rely on patient reviews to find a provider you can trust to deliver the high-quality care you need. That’s why we post positive and negative comments about the care our patients receive from our providers.

But we don’t post everything. We won’t post comments that are libelous, slanderous or profane. Additionally, we won’t post any comments that reveal protected health information that could put a patient’s privacy at risk.

When you complete your survey, you can choose to grant us permission to publish your comments. We won't post anything a patient tells us in a survey unless we have permission.

Reasons You Don’t See Your Comments

Don’t see your comment, review, or rating online? There are two reasons why it doesn’t appear on a provider’s profile:

  1. The provider is not employed by Emory Healthcare. Instead, they are one of our trusted, independent practice providers.
  2. We only display reviews when providers receive at least 30 submitted comments or ratings. We do this to ensure you have enough feedback from a well-rounded group of real patients to make an informed decision.
