Patient & Family Advisor Program

Patient and Family Partners Called to Care

We invite current and former patients and family members to join the Patient and Family Advisor (PFA) Program. The PFA Program provides a platform for individuals to share valuable insights and experiences from their time at Emory Healthcare.

Incorporating the perspectives of patients and families helps us continuously improve patient care and the overall health care experience.

The Role of Patient and Family Advisors at Emory Healthcare

As a member of the team, you participate in committees, councils, and project teams. Your input and feedback are invaluable to hospital administrators.

Patient and Family Advisors discuss safety, quality of care, facility design, food and nutrition, family support, and other topics related to improving patient care. Your first-hand experiences and perspectives aid in key decision-making and planning efforts. You help us understand the patient perspective.

Why Join the PFA Program?

Patient and family advisors shape the future of medical services and directly impact the quality of care at Emory Healthcare. Patient and Family Advisors are a part of ensuring patients and their families receive compassionate care and help guide Emory Healthcare to be mindful of the needs and perspectives of patients and families as they navigate their care.

The Patient and Family Advisor Program has five core values:

  • Cultural Competency and Diversity: We value diverse perspectives to improve care for all patients.
  • Fair and Just Culture: We promote an environment where staff and patients can speak up about safety and quality without fear.
  • Patient- and Family-Centered Care: We emphasize the importance of including patients and their families in the care process.
  • Shared Decision Making: We encourage collaborative decisions between our health care providers and patients.
  • Transparency: We ensure open communication about health care processes and decisions.

These values help strengthen the partnerships between patients, families and health care providers. They align with Emory's mission to serve humanity by improving health.
